The What If Security Series
How The Series Works

As part of The ‘What If’ Security Series, International Perspectives will investigate pressing questions, which in our view have a high probability of influencing the state of humankind and their world. Through an active on-line discussion forum, analytical stakeholder workshops and further research and analysis, International Perspectives will seek to answer 'What If' questions, providing insight into likely scenarios, risks and recommendations on what the best course of action might be for multiple interests.  Such coverage will be prepared in easy-to-read reports summarizing the series findings.

All questions will be answered through systemic analysis, meaning the issue will be analysed as part of a complex and dynamic whole, often taking into account a variety of different considerations including economics, geopolitics, sociology and science. Current 'What If' focus includes:

To assist in answering these questions, International Perspectives will invite a variety of selected experts and other thinkers to contribute insights on the topic to an On-line Discussion Forum.  Facilitating international dialogue, the on-line forum will be populated with content through a combination of interviews, commissioned and non-commissioned articles. The forum will be publicly available to generate as much interest and collaboration as possible. International Perspectives will moderate the forum to ensure integrity of the over-all project.

In answering these questions, International Perspectives will organize and host Analytical Workshops on subject matters related to ‘What If’ questions. Using the special International Perspectives format, each workshop will be carefully designed to maximize knowledge transfer between participants. Top experts will be invited to present on topics that set the stage for predetermined problem sessions. Carefully selected participants are assigned working groups to ensure cross interest representation. These working groups are asked to consider the problems posed by workshop presenters, contributing to long-term solutions.

Information and insights shared through the forum and workshops will be further researched and analysed by International Perspectives staff and used in the compilation of summary Reports. The reports will provide sponsors with crucial information around what we are likely to face offering timelines, scenarios and probability. Based on those findings, International Perspectives will also put forward recommendations for strategic action beginning with practical, immediate steps.
